The original compositions from Irish producer and performer Kormac soundtrack Steven Knight’s hit six-part BBC drama This Town, which aired its finalé recently and is streaming in full on BBC iPlayer now. 

This Town - Score From The Original BBC Series mirrors a thrilling evolution of sound, spirit and UK culture. Set against the melting-pot scene of the Midlands in the 1980s, Knight’s epic drama evokes a community navigating personal upheaval and a pivotal moment of social unrest through the transformative possibilities of music. And as this extraordinary group of young people form a band and fight for their own paths in life, the universal concerns of This Town appear more important than ever. 

The show’s accompanying score comes courtesy of Dublin composer Kormac, who is known for twisting organic recordings into widescreen electronica across his solo, collaborative releases and scoring work. Recent credits range from Professionals (starring Brendon Fraisier) and ITV’s The Diplomat to his 2022 feature debut, Tarrac!. Kormac’s own releases, meanwhile, include collaborations ranging from Irvine Welsh and Micah P. Hinson while his recent ‘Equivalent Exchange’ live shows have seen him employ a 30- piece orchestra to widespread acclaim.  

All episodes of This Town are available now, with the programme also partnered with a brand new album featuring the likes of Self Esteem, Olivia Dean and Celeste covering timeless hits of the era (plus new songs from Fuck The Factory - the band at the heart of This Town - written by Dan Carey and Kae Tempest).
