About

Kormac started out as a hip-hop scratch DJ and MPC beat-maker.

Across 3 albums, hundreds of live shows the world over and major TV and film soundtracks he has honed his craft, twisting organic sounds into wide screen electronica.

His last album, Equivalent Exchange, saw him write a full suite of material for orchestra and a host of collaborators including Loah, Jafaris, Jack O’ Rourke, MayKay, Shahab & Shayan Coohe and Stephen James Smith while working with acclaimed artist, Maser, on artwork and show visuals. The 30 person strong live show sold out venues including the National Concert Hall in Dublin in March 2024.

In early 2024, Kormac wrote the original score for Steven Knight's latest series, This Town. He shaped the series’ musical identity by integrating performances from Dan Carey, Kae Tempest, Gregory Porter, Celeste and Self-Esteem into his soundtrack. By weaving these elements into the score and deploying them throughout the series, Kormac achieved a unique and cohesive soundscape. The six-part series aired on BBC1 and iPlayer in Spring 2024 and was produced by Kudos TV. His soundtrack for the series was released on Mercury/Universal in May 2024.

Immediately afterwards he scored RTE’s engrossing smash-hit, The Boy That Never Was (starring Colin Morgan and Toni O’ Rourke) combining custom recordings of Tibetan and crystal bowls with santoor, vocals and orchestra creating an uneasy, thrilling soundscape and a stirring title track.

In 2023 he scored The Diplomat - a 6 part series for ITV Studios produced by World Productions (Line of Duty.) The show stars Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders) and first aired on Alibi/Now TV.

In 2023, Kormac scored the phenomenal Emmy-nominated documentary, Swift Justice, for The New Yorker magazine. The film explores the Afghani justice system under Taliban control. It was directed by the late Ross McDonnell and has over 1.5 million YouTube views at the time of writing. He also wrapped his first feature film soundtrack, Tarrac!

He has previously written scores for two multi-episodic TV series, Professionals (starring Brendan Fraser) and Red Election (starring Lydia Leonard and Stephen Dillane), airing worldwide on Disney Plus and primetime in the U.S. respectively.

While making his second album, Doorsteps, he, quite literally, showed up at the doors of legendary author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize Winner, Speech Debelle, Texan legend, Micah P. Hinson and a host of others to collaborate and produce a record that sounds like nothing else.

He’s well known for his daring live shows. Sometimes he performs with a full ensemble (brass, strings, drums, electronics, bass, guitar and guest vocalists) while for club shows, he brings his studio set up, a drummer and a massive LED wall showing bespoke visuals for alternative takes on his own material.

He’s played festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Sonar and toured the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia and Canada alongside luminaries Portishead, Nas, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Snarky Puppy and a host of others. Current streaming figures are in excess of 80 million with an average of 1 million Spotify plays per month.
